About me - Dr. Gustav Timmel
Your specialist for sports orthopaedics, prosthetics & traumatology
After completing my medical studies, I began my orthopaedic training at the Institut Vertebralia, 1090 Vienna, with Prim. Alexander Kraft. After six months of training abroad in Germany, I completed my training in trauma surgery and sports traumatology at SMZ-Ost under Prof. Mousavi from 2011-2016. After passing my specialist examination in trauma surgery, I continued my second specialization in orthopaedics at the Gersthof Orthopaedic Hospital. I passed my second specialist examination in orthopaedics & traumatology in 2017 and completed my training as a specialist in orthopaedics & traumatology in 2018. From 2016-2019, I worked in surgery at the renowned Gerstof Orthopaedic Hospital. Since June 2019, I have been working at Krankenhaus Nord, one of the most modern hospitals in Europe.
I have a special interest in sports injuries of all kinds, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery on the knee and shoulder, as well as knee and hip prosthetics.
As head of the sports outpatient clinic at Klinikum Floridsdorf , I have a broad spectrum and high frequency of sports orthopaedic procedures (especially on the knee and shoulder). I also have a broad overview of the latest implants and surgical techniques, their evidence and usefulness.

In principle, I am of the opinion that not only the pain should be treated, but that the source of the pain should be identified and treated in order to prevent the pain from flaring up again.
My main aim is to restore your usual level of activity primarily with conservative treatment methods. Surgery should only be the last option at the end of the treatment plan.
In the event of an operation, I am your direct personal contact before and after the operation .
